Multi-hit, stolen base, and good defense

Kim Ha-sung (28, San Diego Padres), who remained silent with no hits the previous day, revived as a "multi-hit" in a day.

In an away game against the Colorado Rockies at Coors Field in Denver, Colorado on the 24th, Kim Ha-sung started the game as a fifth baseman and posted two hits, one run and one stolen base from four times at bat. Kim Ha-sung's multi-hit game is the first in 11 games since the game against the Chicago Cubs on the 11th. Kim Ha-sung's batting average for this season rose from 0.216 to 0.228 (21 hits from 92 times at bat).

Kim had a lucky hit to get on base from the first at-bat in the first inning. Taking the batter's box with one out and runners on first base with his team leading 2-0, Kim touched a 95.2 mile sinker that came low with a ball count of 1 ball-2 strike against Colorado starter Ryan Feltner. The ball rolled slowly past the pitcher toward the third baseman, and Colorado third baseman Ryan McMahon gave up the throw. However, Kim failed to score a point as Luis Campusano, his follow-up batter, stepped down due to a double play.

Kim Ha-sung, who felt the need for an infield hit, completed a multi-hit in his second at-bat in the third inning. With two outs and no runners, Kim pulled an 88.7-mile slider (about 142.7 kilometers) that came into the middle of the fifth pitch with a ball count of 2-2 strike, and got on base with a hit to the left. He immediately stole his seventh base of the season, and scored a run on Kampusano's double.

Kim had to leave the batter's box after two poor at-bats. He only hit an infield fly in the fifth inning and a big fly with a flying distance of 375 feet (about 114.3 meters) to center field in the seventh inning, but was caught as a fly to center field.

Kim showed his true value in defense as well. He caught the ball when he fell over Brenton Doyle's bullet-like ball in the crisis of runners on first and second base with no outs in the second inning when San Diego was leading 2-1. As he was moving toward third base after seeing second baseman Elefuris Montero move, Kim caught the ball with tremendous reflexes when the ball flew in the opposite direction.

Meanwhile, San Diego lost 4-7, ending its two-game winning streak. After allowing five runs including a come-from-behind grand slam by Brendan Rodgers at the bottom of the fourth inning when the team was leading 4-1, the team failed to reverse the game again.
